London Nightclub Dress Codes For Gents
Don’t let that sports casual look prevent you from enjoying the London nightlife
We all like to look good when we’re enjoying a night out on the town. We also like to feel comfortable in the clothes we wear. Yet sometimes, in between our wardrobe selection and the moment in the queue when we get turned away from this incredibly appealing and enticing night club by the burly bouncers, we realise we should’ve chosen those smart shoes instead.
There are times when blokes do tend to ignore the possibility that later in the night the choice of clothing is somewhat short of the nightclub interpretation of what smart fashionable clothing is. Leave your sportswear at home is the general rule of thumb if you're going out partying at nightclubs in London. You may find the odd club that will let you in with trainers, but why risk it?
As for a dress code, a coat or jacket is fine. A collared shirt is generally the safest option to choose. Jumpers, sweaters and fashionable tops are ok as long as bold slogans and logos are avoided. Designer trousers and chinos are usually allowed, although if you are planning on wearing fashion jeans remember to select only smart ones, if at all, and make sure they are in immaculate condition. Many nightclubs will refuse entry to anyone wearing ripped or baggy jeans unless you're going for the grungy drum & bass look for a club in Camden or Shorditch. You can’t go wrong with dark or black shoes and be carefull with converse or deck shoes as some club doormen will still see them as trainers or sportswear.
Remember, there may be variations from club to club, but this general dress code above would prove suitable for most night clubs in London. Always remember, no sportswear!
Photo I.D. is also essential as most nightclubs have a challenge 18 or 21 entry policy. Suitable forms of nightclub identification are either a drivers licence or passport, student I.D. is not usually accepted.
